Cookie Policy
Last Updated: September 10, 2026
This policy covers hooksecurity.co, our marketing website. It explains every cookie and similar technology we use, what each one is for, and how to change your mind at any time. Our Privacy Policy covers everything else.
How we ask
What we do depends on where you are, because the law does:
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Nothing in the Analytics or Marketing categories loads until you accept it. If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, none of it ever runs.
- United States and elsewhere. Analytics and marketing technologies load by default, and you can switch them off at any time using the link below. We do not show a banner, because no US privacy law requires one and we would rather not interrupt you.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser or extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of sale and sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. Everything in the Marketing category stays off, including visitor identification. We honor it automatically, everywhere, whether or not the state you are in requires us to — and it overrides an "accept" here.
Essential
| Technology | Provider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| hook-region | Hook Security | Records which privacy region your request came from (EEA/UK, US, or other) so we know whether to ask for consent before loading anything. Holds a region bucket only. Expires after 1 day. |
| hook_consent_v1 | Hook Security | Stores your cookie choices in your browser so we don’t ask again. Stored locally; never sent to us. Expires after 12 months. |
| Ahrefs Analytics | Ahrefs | Aggregate page-view counts. Cookieless — it stores no identifier on your device and cannot recognise you across visits. |
Analytics
| Technology | Provider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) | Which pages get visited, how people arrive, and which content performs. | |
| PostHog | PostHog | Product and site analytics, including session replay of interactions with our marketing pages, used to find usability problems. |
| HubSpot | HubSpot | Connects a demo request or form submission to the pages that led to it, so our team has context before a conversation. |
Marketing
| Technology | Provider | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Measures which ads lead to demo requests, and supports remarketing. | |
| LinkedIn Insight Tag, Meta Pixel, Reddit Pixel, Microsoft Advertising (UET) | LinkedIn, Meta, Reddit, Microsoft | Conversion measurement and audience building for our advertising on those platforms. |
| RB2B | RB2B | Identifies the company — and in some cases the individual — behind an anonymous visit, so our team can follow up. US visitors only. Never loaded for EEA, UK or Swiss visitors, and never loaded when your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. |
| Apollo, ClickCease | Apollo.io, ClickCease | Visitor enrichment for sales outreach, and click-fraud protection on paid advertising. |
Changing your choices
Open your preferences at any time: . The same link sits in the footer of every page. Your choice is stored in your browser for 12 months; clearing site data resets it.
You can also opt out of email-based identification through our data partner at app.retention.com/optout, or contact us at support@hooksecurity.co to exercise any privacy right.
